Women Cell

Women CellWomen are amongst very vulnerable sections in any social order. A large number of them face harassment/violence at the hands of the strangers, family members and other known to them. Such abuse may take place at homes and work places. The violence may be in the form of psychological abuse as well as physical abuse. Victims in most cases cannot take recourse to the criminal justice system for a variety of reasons including the fear of social stigma and lack of knowledge about the institutions that could come to their rescue.

In Order to provide necessary assistance to such victims, Women Cell located at Commissioner of Police Office,Sohna Road Near Rajiv Chowk,Gurugram has been functional. The Women Cell is headed by a woman officer of the rank of an Inspector who works under the direct supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Headquarters, Gurugram.

Last year in 2010, Women Cell of Gurugram Police received 425 complaints and 88 cases were registered u/s 498-A/406 IPC .

Any complainant can file her complaint at any Police Station or to ACsP or DCsP. Such complaints can also be submitted to offices of Jt. CP and CP, Gurugram.

The complainant can also call Police Control Room at 100,0124-2316100 or at Women Helpline 1091, working round the clock (24*7) or through SMS at 0124100.
